The Ricardo Peña
Band is a Latin rock/jazz group with great versatility. Depending
on the venue or musical preference, the band can perform two different
types of shows- Latin jazz or Latin rock. The jazzier show includes jazz
standards with Afro-cuban grooves, bossa novas, and samba. The Latin rock
show, which has a heavier edge with rock, blues and funk influences, features
original tunes and covers by Santana. Both shows include classic Cuban
standards and danceable salsa numbers.
The band gives an exciting live performance that not only includes Ricardo’s original material, but also a wide variety of covers by Santana, Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, Buena Vista Social Club and many others. The key to the band’s success is their fine musicianship, strong original material, and their fast growing reputation for their contagious energy and highly entertaining show.
